A cornerstone of Rochester’s blues scene for more than three decades, Steve Grills is widely recognized as one of the region’s premier blues guitarists. Deeply inspired by legends such as Robert Lockwood Jr., Freddie King, Albert Collins, and Earl Hooker, Grills has dedicated his career to preserving and celebrating the roots of the blues while delivering electrifying live performances. Fronting Steve Grills & The Roadmasters, he has performed at venues and festivals across the United States and Canada, including the renowned Chicago Blues Festival, and has shared the stage with blues greats including Robert Lockwood Jr., Joe Beard, Carey Bell, Benny Turner, and Ernest Lane. His acclaimed album *After Hours* reached #39 on the Roots Music Report’s Top 100 Blues Albums chart.
7.24.26 – Darryl Parker (4pm-7pm)
Darryl Parker is a soulful jazz vocalist, saxophonist, and songwriter whose rich voice and engaging stage presence have made him a favorite throughout the Rochester music scene. Originally from Rock Hill, South Carolina, Darryl’s lifelong passion for jazz was inspired by his father, who introduced him to the music and encouraged his artistic journey from an early age. Blending jazz standards, blues, soul, and timeless classics with his own modern style, Darryl creates performances that are both heartfelt and memorable. 7.27.26 – The Sound Committee (4pm-6pm)
The Sound Committee is happy to be back at the Record Archive! They will perform many favorites from the golden age of music, the 1960’s, plus some originals. The Sound Committee released their debut EP Time To Rock in May of 2025, and are working on their second EP. Led by Evan Brock and Lucas Sherron with Mike Quinlan on drums, Alex Dimock on keys, Micha on guitar, Ryan Bhattacharyya on saxophone, Noah Montagliano, Ava Antonowicz, and Sophia Sherron on vocals, this is a show you won’t want to miss!
7.29.26 – River Lynch & The Spiritmakers (6pm-8pm)
River Lynch & The Spiritmakers blend Americana, folk, roots rock, and soulful storytelling into a sound that is both timeless and refreshingly original. Fronted by singer-songwriter River Lynch, the band crafts heartfelt songs with rich harmonies, dynamic musicianship, and a deep appreciation for the traditions of American roots music while adding their own modern perspective. Son House Blues Night returns to Record Archive on the last Thursday of every month, celebrating the timeless sounds of the blues in an intimate, welcoming atmosphere. Each month features a different lineup of talented musicians and special guests, paying tribute to the legends of the genre while showcasing the incredible depth of Rochester’s blues community. Inspired by the spirit and legacy of blues pioneer Son House, this recurring series honors the roots of American music while giving today’s performers a stage to keep the tradition alive. From gritty Delta blues and Chicago classics to soulful originals and unexpected collaborations, every month offers a fresh experience and a chance to hear some of the region’s finest musicians alongside special guest performers. With a new lineup every month, no two Son House Blues Nights are ever the same, making it a tradition worth returning to again and again.

8.18.26 – Tragic Tuesday ft. Architrave (5pm-8pm)
Architrave brings a mesmerizing blend of synth-pop, darkwave, and electronic sounds to the stage. The Upstate NY duo of Jennifer Maher Coleman and Paul Coleman creates a richly layered atmosphere built from hypnotic synths, driving bass lines, breakbeats, and haunting melodies. Drawing inspiration from the worlds of new wave, post-punk, and electronic music, Architrave delivers a captivating live performance that feels both nostalgic and completely fresh.
8.19.26 – Texas Headphones (6pm-8pm)
Texas Headphones bring their own brand of “Rustbelt Country” to the stage, blending the grit of Rochester with the timeless sounds of classic country and country rock. Built around twangy guitars, pedal steel, tight harmonies, and songs that carry the spirit of the honky tonk, this five-piece delivers a fresh take on the sounds of country music’s past. Featuring members Mike Maier, Ryan Yarmal, Trevor Lake, Alex Cote, and Collin Bay, Texas Headphones are keeping the roots of country music alive while carving out their own sound.
