3.28.24 – Son House Blues Night ft. David Jonathan & the Inner City Bedlam 6-8pm
Genesee Johnny – hosts Son House Night again on the final Thursday of each month in the Backroom Lounge at Record Archive – featuring a special guest each month, beer, wine and pizza on top of the live music!

David Jonathan & The Inner City Bedlam is a live array of different jazz inspired styles of music that catalogues original social justice. It overflows with tones of social justice reform, love, happiness, and anger of a past that has yet to be repaired. What does the soundtrack of such magnitude, sound like? What does it feel like? What do the history of a people who have endured so much, sound like. It sounds like David Jonathan & The Inner City Bedlam.

Born in Buffalo, NY, drummer, David Jonathan “Teaspoon” Hulett began his music career in the late 90’s. A graduate of the Buffalo Academy of Visual and Performing Arts, he is one of the most respected, technical drummers of his generation. His articulation and attention to detail
has given him the ability to adapt to many genres of music: from Rock, Pop, Jazz, and R&B, to Country, Folk, Blues, Celtic, Latin, and World Beat. David has performed at Disney World and traveled the globe playing music on The Carnival Cruise Line. At just 37 years old, he has
opened for various artists, including En Vogue, EPMD, Kenny Wayne Shepherd and Robert Cray. David has toured with a host of artists, including The Michael Jackson Tribute Tour 2010, The Black Eyed Peas, T.I., Kendrick Lamar, Sun Ra Arkestra, Dr. Lonnie “B3” Smith, Grammy Award Nominee Eric Roberson, Philicia Collins of The David Letterman Show, Bobby Jones of BET, Joseph Wooten and Grammy award-winning pianist George Caldwell. David hopes for the opportunity to work with artists Erykah Badu, Anderson .Paak and Questlove of The Roots.

“We Are The Inner City Bedlam… Join Us.”

Son House Blues Night. Thursday 4.25.24 6-8pm.<br />
Hosted by Genesee Johnny feat. Meg Williams. Record Archive 33 1/3 Rockwood St Rochester NY 14610
4.25.24 – Son House Blues Night – Genesee Johnny ft. Meg Williams
Genesee Johnny – hosts Son House Night again on the final Thursday of each month in the Backroom Lounge at Record Archive – featuring a special guest each month, beer, wine and pizza on top of the live music!!!
We’d like to thank Johnny, the Son House Club of Rochester – and the local Blues community – the opportunity to continue the fine tradition of this event honoring the great Eddie James “Son” House Jr. Son House was one of the original delta blues slide players who toured with and recorded at the same sessions with Charlie Patton and Willie Brown who influenced / taught Robert Johnson, Muddy Waters, and Howlin Wolf only to quit music and disappear… He was found decades later living as an unknown here in Rochester, NY. He then would go on to record and tour internationally before old age and failing health forced his retirement.
About 10 years ago, Gordon Munding started a blues jam to bring our community of musicians and blues lovers together and who better to dedicate such an event to than such a historically overlooked icon like Son House – a one time local musician himself playing coffee houses and bars in the area between tour dates. When Gordon handed Genesee Johnny off the reins 3 years ago he did everything he could to not only keep it going but to build on what he started…
